AGL Director Andra Matei awarded the Paris-Quebec Prize
On 11 november AGL’s Director Andra Matei was awarded the Paris-Quebec Prize at the 10th edition of the Pro Bono Awards organised by the Paris Bar Association at the Hôtel de Ville. This important award recognises Andra’s crucial work to coordinate the defense of artists targeted for their socially and politically engaged artworks. Huge congratulations to Andra!
Thank you to the Paris Bar Association, the Quebec Bar Association and the Paris City Hall for welcoming AGL yesterday!
The artists we support react:
“After our gratitude, respect, and admiration, another well-deserved award for Andra MATEI, the founder and director of Avant-Garde Lawyers (AGL) who did incredible work on my very complex case and for many other artists. She has been a true help and source of hope and inspiration for many artists around the world. I believe people like her, who tirelessly work for defending fundamental human rights, should be awarded all kinds of resources, including funds, to extend their helping hands to anywhere an artist needs help in the world. She is an #avantgarde in her profession. She has gone far and beyond #probono. She steps in paths that rarely lawyers are stepping, unless the desired outcome, or their payment, is preserved. My congrats to you and all your colleagues and admirers Andra!”
